Privacy

This is a personal blog. There is nothing here to opt out of.

What the site collects

Almost nothing. There are no analytics on these pages, no comments, no accounts, no newsletter signup. The pages carry no third-party scripts, no fonts, no trackers, and no ads. Nothing on the page pings anyone.

Pages are delivered through a content delivery network, bunny.net, run by BunnyWay d.o.o. in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Your request lands on their edge network near you. Their edge log records what an edge log records: an IP address, the user agent, the referring page if you followed a link, and the time. The IP address is anonymized at the edge by default, which means what they hold is the network and not you: IPv4 is masked to the first three octets and IPv6 to the first 64 bits. They derive a country and a network operator from it, and they keep those logs for three days.

My own server keeps a log too. Same fields as any web server log, kept for 90 days and then deleted.

So I do not learn who read what beyond those logs, and there is no profile of you anywhere. The site cannot tell a regular reader from a first-time visitor, and it does not try.

RSS is a pull, not a push. The feed at /index.xml is fetched by whatever reader you point at it, and the site learns nothing from that beyond the single request the reader makes.

Who else sees it

bunny.net is a processor, not a second owner. They deliver the pages and keep the edge log described above, under a data processing agreement, and they are not permitted to use that data for anything else. Nothing here is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising. There is no other third-party service on this site.

If you are in the EU, that agreement is the GDPR one: I am the controller, BunnyWay d.o.o. is the processor, and the processing happens on their network.

What you can do

Mostly nothing, because there is nothing to undo. If you want a log entry looked at or removed, mail me. The address is michael@barrow.me, and it is already in the footer of every page.
